You Have the Power to Save Lives
Young people across Ireland are stepping up to take action. The
IRVA Youth Pledge Campaign invites students to be part of something that truly matters, a movement to create safer roads and stronger communities through smart, responsible choices. Whether you’re walking, cycling, driving, or a passenger, your decisions make a difference. This is your chance to take a stand, protect lives, and show leadership in your school and beyond.
A Message to Students
We’re asking for your help, to lead the way, speak up, and share this message. We know that you have the power, the voice, and the social media know-how to spread this message far wider and louder than we ever could. Your generation can reach thousands in seconds — and what you say matters.
This campaign isn’t just about following rules. It’s about respect, for your life, your friends, your future, and for every person who shares the road. One poor decision can change everything. But one smart decision can protect the people you care about most. If something doesn’t feel safe — speak up. If you drive, use that privilege responsibly. If you’re a passenger, be the one who sets the standard.
Because silence isn’t safety, and awareness saves lives.

Schools – Help Us Reach More Students
We’re inviting schools across Ireland to support the Youth Pledge by encouraging student involvement. This campaign works well during Road Safety Week, in SPHE or TY classes, or as part of wellbeing initiatives.
How Your School Can Participate:
- Display campaign posters in classrooms, corridors, and social areas
- Include the pledge in lesson plans or discussions
- Host a pledge signing event or awareness day
- Share the campaign on your school’s social media
- Invite a Garda, road safety officer, or IRVA speaker to talk to students
You play a key role in shaping a generation of responsible road users.
If your school would like to take part in the IRVA Youth Pledge Campaign, we’d be happy to support you. Whether you’re planning a Road Safety Week event, looking for materials to use in SPHE or Transition Year classes, or want to arrange a speaker to visit your school — we’re here to help.
