We're here when you need us most
Free support, counselling, & legal guidance for those affected by road traffic collisions
IRVA is the national charity for road crash victims in Ireland. We provide free information and support to all those impacted, nationwide.
As a non-governmental organisation, IRVA offers compassionate, practical support to individuals who have been bereaved or injured as a result of road traffic collisions. Our mission is not only to help victims and families through the aftermath of tragedy but also to promote road safety and reduce the risk of further loss on our roads.
We provide free bereavement counselling, as well as legal guidance to help families and survivors navigate the complex processes that follow a serious incident. Our monthly online support groups, led by a qualified facilitator, offer a safe and understanding space for connection and healing.
Support and Guidance for Victims & Families
Our victim guide provides essential information for anyone affected by road traffic collisions, especially those grieving the loss of a loved one or coping with serious injury. Developed by victims in collaboration with road safety partners, it aims to fill a long-standing gap in support and help families understand and engage with the legal processes that follow such a tragedy. Please note this is a draft version, and we strongly recommend seeking independent legal advice if you have been impacted.
As a national organisation, IRVA offers free information, emotional support, and practical assistance to victims and their families. If you have been affected, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help you through every step of this difficult journey.
A Message from Our Founder
In this moving introduction, Donna Price — Founder, President, and Public Relations Officer of IRVA — shares the heart-breaking story of her son Darren, who was tragically killed in a road traffic collision. Speaking on the 10th anniversary of the Irish Road Victims Association, Donna reflects on how her personal loss became the driving force behind the organisation.
IRVA was created to ensure that families affected by similar tragedies have access to support, understanding, and practical help during the most difficult time in their lives. Her message is a powerful reminder of the importance of community, remembrance, and ongoing advocacy to improve road safety for all.

Who Do We Support?
- Bereaved Families: Families who have lost a loved one in a road traffic collision can find emotional support, practical guidance, and a community that understands their grief. IRVA provides a safe space to connect, share, and be heard.
- Injured Survivors: Those who have suffered serious or life-changing injuries often face complex challenges. We offer support and resources to help you navigate the legal, emotional, and practical aftermath of a collision.
- Friends and Extended Family: The impact of a road tragedy extends beyond immediate family. Friends, grandparents, siblings, and partners may also struggle to cope, and we are here to support them too.
- Professionals: Healthcare workers, emergency responders, counsellors, and legal professionals supporting road victims can also benefit from our resources and insights, helping them better understand and assist those affected.

The Human Impact of Road Traffic Collisions
Every life lost on Ireland’s roads represents a family forever changed and a community left grieving. Each life lost is much more than a number to their families, friends and communities.
By keeping track of the latest road death statistics published by An Garda Síochána, we can better understand the scale of the problem and the urgent need for action to make our roads safer for everyone.
