Our Mission

At the Irish Road Victims Association, we work with An Garda Síochána, legal, medical, and government partners to create lasting change for those affected by road collisions. These collaborations help us improve prevention, investigation, and response, raise standards, influence policy, and ensure victims’ voices are heard.

Our work centers on six key focus areas driving real impact.

Emotional Support from People Who Understand

Many of our team members have personally experienced the devastation of losing a loved one or being injured in a road traffic collision. They are here to offer empathy, guidance, and a listening ear to those going through similar experiences. If you are grieving or struggling in the aftermath of a collision, we are here to talk and support you in any way we can.

Support and Guidance for Victims & Families

Our victim guide provides essential information for anyone affected by road traffic collisions, especially those grieving the loss of a loved one or coping with serious injury. Developed by victims in collaboration with road safety partners, it aims to fill a long-standing gap in support and help families understand and engage with the legal processes that follow such a tragedy. Please note this is a draft version, and we strongly recommend seeking independent legal advice if you have been impacted.

As a national organisation, IRVA offers free information, emotional support, and practical assistance to victims and their families. If you have been affected, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help you through every step of this difficult journey.
